Our Staff

Executive Director

Jorge L. Morales, jr.

Jorge joined the Company as the Executive Director in February 2023. Reporting to the Board of Directors, he is responsible for all aspects of the Company’s operation, including transportation, finance and accounting, human resources, technology, contracts, and regulatory requirements.

Office Manager

Maureen Saad

Maureen has been with the organization for over 20 years. As the Office Manager for the Company, she is responsible for a number of varied and diverse functions, including human resources, payroll, and accounts payable and receivable. She is also the manager of Customer Service, providing a vital leadership role in helping solve the unique transportation challenges that face many of our clients.

Transportation Manager

Charlie Howard

Charlie joined the Company in August of 2009. After working as a van driver during his first year with Elderbus, Charlie was promoted to the critical position of Scheduler/Dispatcher for the organization, performing that function for nearly five years.

During the fall of 2015, Charlie was again promoted to his current position of Transportation Manager for the Company. His responsibilities include the daily management of the Company’s drivers and dispatch staff, as well as the management of all scheduling, maintenance, and safety programs.

Our Drivers

Our drivers are truly the face of the Company. The organization is justifiably proud of all of the drivers that provide the vital transportation link to help keep our clients engaged in their communities. In addition to providing a safe and professional environment when transporting our clients, they also strive to provide a warm and friendly service that meets the needs of all passengers.

All drivers are subject to a thorough background check prior to becoming employees of the Company. Once hired, all drivers undergo a thorough program related to all aspects of safely operating the vehicles used in the operation. They also receive sensitivity training relating to meeting the specialized needs of disabled or extremely frail clients. All drivers are also subject to random drug and alcohol testing to ensure the safety of all passengers.

Why Us

SCM Elderbus is a private non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization. Incorporated in 1974, the Company initially provided transportation to medical appointments for senior residents of a single community. Under the auspices of the Worcester Regional Transit Authority, today the organization provides transportation services to seniors and the disabled residing in twenty-two communities in central Massachusetts. And it’s not just for transportation to and from medical appointments. Shopping, banking, trips to the local pharmacy, work-related trips, or simply a ride to the local coffee shop to meet with friends are just a few of the reasons people use Elderbus. Whatever your transportation needs, we can help.

Numerous studies have concluded that ready access to transportation options, whether they be private or public, is vital to maintaining and enhancing a satisfactory quality of life. People are living longer today than ever before.

Over the next two decades, the percentage of the population over the age of sixty-five will be higher than at any point in the country's history. Services such as those provided to clients by SCM Elderbus will become even more vital in the years to come. In addition, our services are likely to become equally important to the families and direct caregivers of our clients.

Aging family members may be reluctant to ask others for help in carrying out everyday activities, such as grocery shopping, for fear of being viewed as a burden. An adult child caring for an aging parent may not be able to readily take time off from work for a scheduled doctor's appointment. Having access to a safe, reliable, and affordable transportation option is a winning combination for all involved. It offers a measure of independence to individuals as they age, without having to rely completely on family members for everyday activities. It offers a sense of comfort for family caregivers, knowing there is a reliable option available to help people stay active and engaged in the communities in which they live.
